Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai, has launched the Smart Training and Testing Yard for testing drivers at the Dubai Driving Center in Al Quoz. The Yard is fitted with smart driver-testing vehicles capable of detecting areas of testing manoeuvres and driver's response to each maneuver, thanks to sophisticated cameras linked to a central processor capable of capturing all data, computing errors automatically, and automatically judging if the applicant has passed or failed.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has set a deadline for receiving applications from local and international companies, institutions, universities and colleges in the Dubai International Driving Challenge (DIFC) competition in cooperation with Khalifa University and New City. Registration has recently started on www.sdchallenge.com . Adel Shakeri, Director of Transportation Systems at Public Transport Agency and Chairman of the Dubai World Steering Committee, said: "The total prize money exceeds $ 5 million and the finalists will be announced in October 2018.
Winners of the 10th Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport (DAST) were honored by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Wednesday 7th March 2018. DDC was a key sponsor of the event, which aims to bring the attention of key organizations and the local media to sustainable transport. Victor Calise, commissioner at New York City Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, will be the guest of honor and keynote speaker at the award ceremony, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Dubai Metro extension to connect Expo 2020 site, new residential and industrial zones. Dubai: Dubai Metro will be extended for 14.5 kilometres, branching out from Nakheel Harbour and Tower station to the Expo 2020 site near Al Maktoum International Airport, the Roads and Transport Authority has announced.

Dubai, UAE, 4 March, 2015 - Lootah Biofuels, a fully owned subsidiary of the SS Lootah group and Dubai Driving Center, a leading driving school of Dubai collaborated to support environmental friendly and sustainable fuel produced from used cooking oil (UCO) for the latter's vehicles in the UAE. The historic accord made Dubai Driving Center the first driving school of UAE to use Biofuels.
DDCs QHSE manager Ian Littlefield contributed to the ongoing discussion around improving the safety of Dubai’s roads. The UAE roads have become safer after the new federal traffic laws came into force in July this year but more needs to be done to ensure that the country will have fewer casualties due to road accidents. This was given emphasis by various transport service companies at the second Road Safety Day organized by Serco, a global transport service company, in partnership with Road Safety UAE, in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. David Greer, Serco Middle East CEO, stated that road safety is a collective responsibility - from the government to the public and private sectors to the motorists and the pedestrians.

Representatives from DDC attended the UAE’s first ever Motorcycle Fleet Safety Event sponsored by Al Futtaim Honda and held at Le Meridian Airport Hotel. Thomas Edelman, founder and CEO of Road Safety UAE stated that the aim of the conference, at which DDC were key note speakers was to raise awareness for the safety of motorcycle delivery riders; share best practice on policies; get the view-points of the involved stakeholders and encourage networking with other key stakeholders aimed at finding safety solutions for this vulnerable group
Senior Trainers from DDC worked with Michelin to offer a ‘Behind the Wheel’ staff training / defensive driving initiative to the first batch of 16 drivers. The initial event happened between 9-17 July 2018 and started with a 4 hours’ theoretical refresher session followed by 6 practical modules lasting for 4.5 hours, each for 2-3 Michelin staff at a time. Michelin sets a great example of the responsible employer, keen in displaying it’s ‘Good Employer’ CSR label!
